Which Veneer Type is Right for You?
Once you’ve decided that you’re a good candidate for veneers, it’s time to choose the type and learn about the cost of veneers. We offer 3 types of veneers at Cosmetic Dentists of Houston:
Porcelain veneers are the strongest and most durable of the veneer options. These veneers are custom-fabricated and usually require 2 – 3 dental visits, so this will be reflected in the cost. Traditional porcelain veneers can last for 10 – 20 years, so they are often considered the best long-term value.
These veneers are called “full-prep” because they are least conservative option, requiring the removal of some of your existing tooth structure. However, this preparation also allows a skilled cosmetic dentist to create all of the natural anatomy and translucency that you would see in a natural tooth.

Low-prep veneers do not require the extensive removal of your existing tooth structure and are considered “more conservative” than traditional porcelain veneers. Because application is less invasive (less tooth surface must be removed), they are sometimes the preferred option for sensitive teeth. Low-prep veneers also require at least 2 visits.

Less or no enamel removal is necessary for composite veneers. In one appointment, our dentist could be able to create and install your veneers! The procedures are comparable to porcelain veneers if your composite veneer needs to be created in a lab. Our dentist will typically apply the composite material to the tooth’s surface and shape it as needed, giving you a quick but beautiful smile makeover.
Tooth bonding is the most conservative and least invasive of the dental veneer options, requiring minimal or no removal of the existing teeth. Direct Bonded Veneers are hand-sculpted by Dr. Canto in a single visit, using composite resins – a tooth colored bonding material that creates a perfectly natural look.
Although bonded veneers don’t last as long as ceramic or porcelain veneers, they are a great non-invasive option for people who want to preserve their existing tooth structure and see immediate, stunning results.
