Dr. Amanda Canto leads the team at Cosmetic Dentists Houston and has been sharing her passion for healthy, beautiful smiles since 1989. She is dedicated to developing exceptional relationships with her patients, as well as the community, in order to educate and enrich those she reaches.
Dr. Canto received her undergraduate degree from Southwestern University in 1985 and her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1989 from The University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. Upon graduation, Dr. Canto was chosen for a full year private fellowship in cosmetic dentistry and served as Assistant Editor of Reality Publishing Company for dentistry. She has completed thousands of hours of continuing education in all areas of dentistry and is a graduate of multiple prestigious dental programs, including Spear Education, the Las Vegas Institute and The Pacific Aesthetic Continuum.
Dr. Canto is committed to staying on the cutting edge in technology and education for dentistry and is known as a pioneer in her industry. In addition to utilizing cutting-edge technology, such as dental lasers and cosmetic dentistry techniques, she is leading the way in education and early detection protocols for oral cancers. She was one of the first doctors in the country to own the cancer screening device, the Oral ID.

She has been honored to help impact her profession by contributing ideas and evaluation for development of new materials and techniques in dentistry by serving on several boards, including the Council for Innovative Dentistry for 3M and the Catapult group.
She sustains her dedication to learning with countless hours of continuing education through her participation in SPEAR Study Clubs, CEREC Education and Fortune Management.
Dr. Canto also continues her growth by surrounding herself with doctors from around the globe by being part of the prestigious group The Fortune Practice Platinum Circle, a think tank “committed to progressive, socially responsible ideals for the betterment of evolving professionals, as well as humanity.”
Giving Back to the Houston Community
From fostering rescue animals from the ASPCA to changing the lives of at-risk youth, Dr. Canto has always felt it important to give back to her community.
She has participated in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry’s “Give Back a Smile” program, which provides cosmetic dental care at no cost to survivors of domestic violence.
She has also provided more than $30,000 in services, to at-risk youth through her own “Gift of a Smile” program coordinated with Houston’s own Window of Opportunity Foundation.
Dr. Canto also serves on the national board of and participates in Freedom Day USA. This is an organization that gives thanks to our military, veterans, active duty and their immediate family by providing a DAY OF FREE for those who have kept us free.

Cosmetic dentistry requires years of advanced clinical training, but it also requires an artist’s eye for detail and a passion for perfect results. Dr. Canto considers herself more than just a cosmetic dentist – she likes to think of herself as an artist and an architect. She helps her patients create a blueprint for their comprehensive dental wellness – whether they need a simple restoration or complete smile rejuvenation.
